Brief Summary
The consultation is about examining how households in Indonesia adapted economically to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the potential implications of these coping strategies on child well-being.
This study aimed to deepen the understanding of the decision-making processes behind household economic coping strategies in response to pandemic-related challenges. It also explored the factors influencing these decisions, including gender and disability considerations within household livelihoods, and assessed how these coping strategies might affect children’s access to their fundamental rights — particularly in health, education, and protection.
Specifically, the study sought to:
- Document how households made decisions on coping strategies in response to the pandemic’s economic impact;
- Assess the decision-making process within households, paying attention to gender dynamics and disability inclusion in livelihood strategies;
- Understand the potential consequences of these coping decisions on children’s access to essential services and their overall well-being.
The evidence generated from this research is intended to inform future social protection programs and child-focused interventions, ensuring they are responsive to the lived realities and decision-making contexts of affected households.
